Kentucky will be well represented at the Mobile Challenge of Champions on Saturday. Tretez Kinnaird (Butler) leads the way in the 800m, along with a group from Manual led by Cassidy Hale in the One Mile Run. Class A 1600m Champ Kaitlin Snapp (Danville) will also be in the girls mile run trying to go under 5:00 along with Hale. Katie Lever (John Hardin) leads the Two Mile Run in AAA as of now, but will have Kristen Hale fighting her all the way on Saturday in Alabama.
Tretez Kinnaird, 2011 AAA 800m State Champion will be in the invitational heat of the 800m at the Mobile Meet of Champions this evening. He answered a few questions below about his preparation and plans for the race.
KY: What is your race plan for tomorrow?
TK: Do whatever it takes to win the race and get to as close to 1:51-1:52
KY: Do you feel fully recovered from your injury from the winter?
TK: The injury from the winter is FULLY recovered its just a process on building the base back up and getting stronger to prepare for the 800 and mile
KY: Which do you like better running in a big time outdoor race (Mobile, Worlds) or indoor (Brooks PR)?
TK: Outdoor national meets for sure bigger tack, bigger competition and faster times
KY: What kind of workouts have your done to get ready for Saturday?
TK: Um workout wise just a combo of distance workouts (2 sets of 1x800 2x400 with short recovery) and speed workouts (6x300 1:30 recovery at 41 42)
