Former Fulton County State Champion Sharika Smith, a junior at Western Kentucky University has qualified for the NCAA Division 1 National Championship. The best of the best in college will gather this weekend at Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas. Smith is seeded 17th overall in the Long Jump with a best of 20-07. She is also seeded 16th in the Triple Jump with a leap of 42-03.50. Both of these marks are Western Kentucky University Indoor Records. This is her first time qualifying for either Indoor or Outdoor Nationals.
While at Fulton County High School, Smith was a 14 time Kentucky State Champion and still holds the overall Kentucky State Record in the Triple Jump along with the Class A 200m Dash State Record.
