Several Kentucky high school track and field athletes set personal records at meets during the week of April 6-11.
Alex Avila (Spencer County) threw 63-5.5 in the shot put at the Spencer County Invitational on April 10, improving from his previous best of 39-2. The mark ranks #3 in Kentucky and #1 among juniors. Avila finished 2nd of 16 competitors.
Charla Gormley (Woodford County) ran 15.26 in the 100m hurdles at AJ's Heart of the Bluegrass Track Classic on April 11, bettering her previous PR of 15.81. The senior ranks #10 in the state and #6 among seniors. Gormley placed 2nd of 20 competitors.
Rose Hayden (Paris) clocked 26.85 in the 200 meters at AJ's Heart of the Bluegrass Track Classic on April 11, improving from 27.79. The time ranks #106 in Kentucky among 3,407 athletes. Hayden finished 7th of 39 competitors.
Jackson Risley (Caldwell County) ran 16.02 in the 110m hurdles at the Carterville Co-Ed Open on April 11, improving from his previous best of 16.75. The senior ranks #56 in the state and #20 among seniors. Risley also set a PR in the 300m hurdles, running 41.88 to better his previous mark of 42.20.
Noah Nichols (Mercer County) threw 56-7.75 in the shot put at AJ's Heart of the Bluegrass Track Classic on April 11, improving from 55-3. The junior ranks #10 in Kentucky and #4 among juniors. Nichols won the event with 34 competitors and also set a discus PR of 164-7, bettering his previous mark of 162-11.
Kaylee Mills (Knox Central) ran 12:15.32 in the 3200 meters at the Log Mountain Distance Festival on April 6, improving from 12:50.87. The school record performance ranks #126 in the state and #21 among juniors. Mills won the race with 3 competitors.
Erica Geer (duPont Manual) ran 12.67 in the 100 meters at the Princeton Spurlock Track and Field Classic on April 11, improving from her March 2026 PR of 12.82. The senior ranks #54 in Kentucky and #20 among seniors. Geer also set a PR in the 300m hurdles with 45.53, bettering her previous mark of 46.45.
