Why Lexington Catholic should be #1 in Class AA

First and foremost, let’s start with this: I was with the North Oldham crew in Ohio and I am a very close follower of their performances throughout the year. I correspond with Coach Lamaster often and made him aware of this idea before I pitched it to Grooms. He couldn’t fully agree, but he also couldn’t completely deny the credibility that Lexington Catholic has gained in the past month. Based on that, here is my argument.

 

Two weeks ago, at the Paul Dunbar Invitational at Masterson Station, Lexington Catholic did something that no other Class AA squad has done anywhere this year: they placed four runners under 17 minutes in the same race. When you look at those results, you have to understand that Class AA doesn’t have a great volume of athletes dipping under 17 minutes at the state championships (last year there were 3, 13 in 2008, and 15 in the fast year of 2007).  Obviously, I don’t expect that these guys will necessarily repeat ...
