The Webster County Invitational was held Saturday at the West Kentucky Teen Challenge Golf Course outside of Dixon, Kentucky. The weather was great, especially after a week which had highs in the mid-90s. The meet was loaded up with teams from Class AA Region 1, as Webster County will host the regional championship there on November 6th.
Fresh off a win at the St. Mary Invitational where he set a new course record in 15:59 Christian County’s Sean Hurd took to the lead early and never let up. He sailed through one mile mark with a 4:58 followed by Webster County’s Jon Ashby in 5:02. Logan County’s Sye Head was close to the front in third. After the mile mark, the runners had to start a gradual incline that was nearly a quarter mile long. It was clear at the mile mark that Logan County was trying to establish themselves as the best of the regional teams over Webster County.
