The Heath Pirate Invitational was held in Paducah, Kentucky tonight. There was a last minute change in scheduling due to the newest addition to Heath Coach Kris Durfee family. Congratulations, Kris and Vanessa.
To the action, it was still pretty humid when the two varsity races went off. The girls led off the day with Graves County coming in as the favorite. The leaders decided to take the rest of the field for a little extra distance as they turned the wrong direction about a ½ mile into the race. Even with a couple mid-race adjustments the girls still ran longer than 3.1 miles probably closer to 3.25. The extra distance probably helped shake off the first race rust for the girls. The Eagles of Graves County did not disappoint finishing with 1,2,3,4, and 6 for a score of 16.
