Jemane and Lado Sign with Spalding University

Head Cross Country Coach, Kevin Alessandro announced today the “signing” of a local duo, Haile Jemane and Rizik Lado from Central High School in Louisville, KY. Jemane finished 14th in the 2009 AA State Championship and boasts a personal best time of 16:04 for 5000m. Lado finished 5th in the 2009 AA Ky State Championship and brings a personal best time of 16:14 for 5000m. Both have also excelled on the track and will play a large role in the Central HS bid for a 2010 state championship on the track in June. “Haile and Rizik are incredible prospects and have the potential to be two of the top cross country runners in SLIAC this fall.”

The story within the story is that there will be a reuniting of sorts on the cross country team. One of Alessandro’s top runners, Abram Deng happens to be the high school teammate of Jemane and Lado. They competed together at Central HS, Westside Track Club and now look to bring much of that success here to the college level. “The trio will seek to bring the same level of success they had together on their high school team” stated Alessandro, “it’s nice to have these three guys back together again.”

The addition of Jemane and Lado will bring needed depth to the Golden Eagle program. Alessandro adds that “Spalding is one of the fastest growing cross country programs in the region and these two are going to help solidify that statement.” Both are ready to continue their academic and athletic futures right here in Louisville, KY.
