Time to vote for your favorite performance of the past week. Here are your candidates for the week.
Lucas Gabbard (East Jessamine) - The Jaguars traveled to the Jesse Owens Classic and came out with some nice performances. Gabbard led the team with a 16:10.73 and just edging out teammate Jay Kosin (16:10.90). The team finished fourth overall in a meet that is traditionally stacked with talent.
Nick Sanders (St. Xavier) - Nick took the title at the Louisville XC Classic with a 15:26.90. The meet hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission, University of Louisville, and Eastern High School has traditionally been one of the best in the state and Sanders was the cream of the crop.
Ayden Taylor (Trinity) - Great American XC Festival brings the best of the south into one place and Ayden Taylor was the top Kentucky finisher with a 15:29.40 and 27th place. The team placed third but was only 39 points from the title. Huge statement for the Shamrocks outside of the state.
Paul Van Laningham (Cooper) - I am going to keep putting Paul on these polls until he wins one since he is dominating the state right now. To make it even better, he went to the Nike XC Town Twilight Invitational and dominated there too with a 14:51.50. He is on a tear and showing everyone why he is the favorite to repeat as state champion.
