UK High School Invitational Edition
Normally there would only be one athlete of the week but with so many great performances I thought I would pass along some recognition to three of the top performers for each gender from Saturday.
Girls
Elizabeth Anderson -duPont Manual
Anderson, a senior at duPont Manual ran new career best times in the One Mile and Two Mile Runs. She rolled in both races finishing fourth overall running a 5:04.46 and an 11:01.10. She is currently ranked #25 nationally in the Two Mile Run.
Catherine Claywell - Murray
Claywell, a sophomore finished second overall in the High Jump hitting 5-06 for the second time this season. She is currently ranked 23rd nationally and #1 in Kentucky.
Samantha Smith - Rockcastle County
Smith, a senior at Rockcastle County finished fourth overall in the Long Jump with a new best jump of 18-01. She also finished sixth in the Triple Jump with a leap of 35-05.25. Her performance in the Long Jump ranks #40 nationally.
Boys
Andrew Stewart - North Hardin
Stewart, a junior at North Hardin ran a new personal best time of 1:54.91 in the 800m to finish fourth overall. His time ranks # 1 in Kentucky and sixth nationally.
Ryan Ramsey - St. Xavier
Ramsey, a senior at St. Xavier finished second overall in the Pole Vault in just his third time competing in the event. He vaulted a new career best of 15-06 which ranks #1 in Kentucky and #11 nationally.
Marcus Winstead - Owensboro
Winstead, a senior at Owensboro finished third overall in the 60 Meter Dash with a smoking time of 6.87 seconds. His time ranks #1 in Kentucky and #10 nationally.
