KHSAA RELEASE
As plans continue to be finalized for the Inaugural KHSAA Indoor Track & Field State Championships, the KHSAA has received several inquiries from member schools. In an effort to address the expressed concerns for travel, school transportation availability on Friday, and to minimize the financial impact of the trip, the KHSAA has worked with the venue to secure March 2-3 as the dates for competition.
Class 2A & 3A will compete on March 2, while Class 1A will compete on March 3. The schedule has also been adjusted to reduce the need for overnight stays by member schools and to eliminate, at least for 2024, the need for busses to be used on Friday during peak school travel periods. A draft of the schedule is being finalized and will be released next week.
In addition, other common questions that the KHSAA office has received:
- Events to be conducted (as approved by the Board of Control and announced last fall):

- 800m Run
- 200m Dash
- 3000m Run
- 4x400m relay

- For 2024, Conversions for Events:
- For the 60m Hurdles and the 60m Dash:
- An auto-conversion from MileSplit for the 55m Hurdles and the 55m Dash will be accepted.
- If an athlete has a performance in the 55m Hurdles or 55m Dash, MileSplit has an easy way to convert these performances:
- Click "Rankings"
- Click "55m" or "55mH"
- Under the "League" drop-down box, there is a "Conversion to 60m is available. Enable conversion?"
- Click "Enable conversion".
- The rankings will then be updated for the athlete.
- For the 1500m and 3000m Runs:
- For 2024, athletes with a 1600m or 1-mile performance (while representing a member school) could also qualify with a converted time for the 1500m.
- For 2024, athletes with a 3200m or 2-mile performance (while representing a member school) could also qualify with a converted time for the 3000m.
- The KHSAA would utilize the following MileSplit tool to convert and this will be handled manually:https://ky.milesplit.com/calc?time=4%3A02.56&event=1500m
- For all other events, only metric to English and vice versa will be accepted.
- For the 60m Hurdles and the 60m Dash:
- Only Indoor performances will be accepted.
- Deadlines for performances to be submitted to the MileSplit website for possible qualification to the KHSAA Indoor Championships will be Saturday, February 24th at 9:00 PM ET.
Athletic Directors and Coaches are reminded to be sure that they have added the new sport offering in the KHSAA school subdomain (schools.khsaa.org) "Indoor Track" and have added a coaching staff and athlete roster. This is a separate roster from Track & Field.
To assist coaches and athletes in tracking each event's top 24, the KHSAA has worked with our partners at MileSplit and compiled performances in all 14 events that will be updated each week. If an athlete is missing from the list, here are a few tips to check before contacting the KHSAA.
- Are the meet results posted on MileSplit?
- If no, then contact the meet administration to submit the results tokymilesplit@gmail.com
- Did the athlete perform under the KHSAA member school name?
- If not, then the athlete would not qualify while representing any other entity or while running unattached.
- Please be advised that the first release of the Top 30 list does not include any conversions of the 1600m/1-mile/3200m/2-mile yet nor does it reflect the removal of more than the 2 qualifiers per school limit (1 per school in relays).
- As of 01/29/24, here is the list of top 30 performances:https://khsaa.org/01-29-24-current-top-30-indoor-track-performances-for-2024/
- All classes by gender can be viewed in separate tabs across the bottom of the post.
