Katie Wright & Noah Rogers Awarded KYtrackXC Scholarship

Beginning with the 2021 track and field season, KYtrackXC and the KHSAA awarded two seniors, Katie Wright of Assumption and Noah Rogers of Taylor County, with a $500 scholarship. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association and KYtrackXC recognized these athletes for excellence in the classroom, community, and track & field. Their commitment to achieving at a higher level academically while performing at the highest level of track and field distinguishes them as the best in the sport.

They will each receive a $500 scholarship to apply to their next steps after graduation.

One of the nominations for Katie wrote:

Katie is a great example of how to properly balance academics with athletics, but she is perhaps one of the best ever examples of how persistence can combine with motivation in order to overcome the challenges which have confronted her. Katie won Middle School State in Pole Vault, setting the state record in her 8th-grade year and winning AA State. She got injured and missed her entire freshman year, but with hard work and determination, Katie was able to return, set both indoor and outdoor school records at Assumption and place 6th at AAA State. Last year, she missed her entire Junior season, and yet battled back yet again to win Indoor State in Pole Vault last March, and remain one of the top pole vaulters in the State.

A nomination for Noah wrote:

Noah has great energy, is dedicated to his sport, hard-working, competitive in all the best ways, a huge encourager to his team, and all of this while staying dedicated to his school work, family, and faith! He's an exceptional young man and a great example of a student-athlete! Noah has been a great student athlete all four years of high school, participating in track, soccer, basketball, cross country, and show choir, while performing wonderfully in his academics including AP courses!
Congratulations to Katie and Noah!

We will award the same $500 scholarship in the fall to one male and one female Class of 2022 runner. Stay tuned for the application in late September.
