Centerville Saturday Night Lights
The fastest duo in the state, raced later into the night at Centerville High School in Southern Ohio at the Saturday Night Lights 5k. The O'Shea family is a well known name already with their impressive dominating wins at Rumble Through the Jungle and obviously Ciara as the defending state champ.
Both eyed new PR's on the extremely quick course coming in and they ABSOLUTELY delivered! Ciara was hoping for her first sub 18 and came away crushing that barrier running 17:50.10 finishing 6th in a crazy competitive race as the first non-Ohio finisher. Conner on the other hand crossed the line 3rd in another extremely competitive race behind the 2nd and 3rd fastest boys in Ohio as he ran 15:19.60 for a massive PR.
Other teams that made the trip across the Ohio River included one of the top teams in the state, the Conner boys. We have yet to see them up against some of the other top teams in Kentucky, but Saturday they took on some major Ohio programs finishing 7th with a 16:38 average and 1-5 split of 1:16 led by Peyton Fairchild's 10th place finish in 15:48.
The Daviess County boys and girls also traveled to Centerville in search of some quick times and competitive racing. Brady Terry led the boys to a 10th place team finish as he brought it home just a spot behind Fairchild in 11th with a 15:49. Although the girls finished 16th, it should be mentioned that some of the absolute best teams in the entire state of Ohio were also in this race. Plus, I know its a stretch, but their average time of 20:02 was faster than duPont Manual at Trinity/Valkyrie. Obviously completely different course, competition, and conditions but hey... it's gotta be worth something.
