The Eastern Kentucky area cross country season will start on Thursday night with the Early Season XC Showcase at the John Clark X-Country Course in Westwood. Ashland Blazer, Bath County, Boyd County, Elliott County, Fairview, Greenup County, Morgan County, Raceland, and Russell are the teams that are participating in the showcase.
Fairview, led by freshman Brooklyn Bowen will be the top team at the meet. They open up the season ranked #3 in the KYtrackXC.com Class A Girls Team Rankings. On paper, it looks as though Fairview could finish with five in the top seven. Bowen coming off a 10th place finish at the 2008 Class A Kentucky State Cross Country Meet looks to be the favorite to win Thursday night. Last year’s Early Season Showcase was won by Bowen with Russell junior Jennifer Miller finishing second.
