TBT: Thornsberry Sets TWO MS State Meet Records in One Day!

This Saturday some of the finest young athletes in the state will look to make a name for themselves at Cardinal Park for the 2019 Middle School State Meet which will be broadcast LIVE on KY Milesplit! In light of that we take you back to a day where a young Keeton Thornsberry dominated the day setting two meet records in just one day!

In 2015 Thornsberry of Notre Dame Academy had already been on a tear setting a MS Boys State record in the 1600m run with a 4:39.33 at the always competitive Eastern MS Track Classic. Later that year at the 2015 MS State meet Thornsberry took over once again.

In the 1600m he squared off against some of the current biggest names in Kentucky High School distance running. Holy Trinity's Grady Shiflet, and Beaumont Middle's Austin Mathews. Thornsberry crossed the line in 4:40.69 for the first state meet record of the day with Shiflet and Mathews going 2-3 in 4:46 and 4:49 respectively.

Later on, Mathews would go on to catch a win in the 800m in a race with Jacob Brizendine and Steven Newman. Soon after, Thornsberry would go on to win the 3200m by nearly 40 seconds! The Notre Dame academy 8th was just seconds away from breaking 10 minutes going 10:08.94.

While we unfortunately don't have any video from the 1600m, we do have video of his stellar 3200m run that day.

Don't miss a second of the action this Saturday by watching the meet LIVE on KY Milesplit!
