Emma Brink named Girls Track Gatorade Athlete of the Year

Emma Brink (Sacred Heart) has been chosen the 2009 Girls Track Gatorade Athlete of the Year for Kentucky.  This comes on the heels of her being chosen the KYtrackXC.com Girls Distance Runner of the Year and Ms. Track by the KTCCCA as the Overall Female Athlete of the Year.  She won the Distance Trifecta, the 1600m, 800m, and 3200m at the 2009 Kentucky State Track Meet bringing her career total to six.  In her victory in the 800m she broke the Kentucky State Record with a career best time of 2:13.88.  This is Brink’s 2nd Gatorade Athlete of the Year Award the first being the 2007 Cross Country Award.  She is the second Sacred Heart runner to pick up the Gatorade Track Award joining former great Maddie Schueler who won in 2004.
