KYtrackXC.com March 23rd Athletes of the Week

In an effort to honor the top track and field performers from Kentucky, KYtrackXC.com will have a weekly set of Athletes of the Week.  There will be Middle School, High School, and College awardees.  Former Kentucky High School Track and Field athletes currently running in college are eligible for the College award, even if he or she attends a school out-of-state. 

 

High School Boys

Corey Stoll - Villa Madonna

Stoll, a senior at Villa Madonna, ran in the Grant County All-Comers Thursday and the Newport River City Classic on Saturday recording six victories between both meets.  He ran the current #1 1600m time in Kentucky of 4:33.30 with his victory Saturday in Newport.  He ran a 53.00 and 2:03.53 to win the 400m and 800m at Grant County. 

 

High School Girls

Nayia Bishop, Starsha Fant, Diamond Tedford, and Maurisha Griffin

Male

Male’s 4x400 Meter Relay composed of Nayia Bishop, Starsha Fant, Diamond Tedford, and Maurisha Griffin won at the Lenny Lyles Invitational Saturday with a Meet Record time of 4:07.47. 

 

Middle School Boys

Tretez Kinnaird - Johnson Middle School

Kinniard, an eighth grader at Johnson Middle School finished off his indoor season by being named the KYtrackXC.com Middle School Sprinter of the Year.  He continues his success with three victories at the St. Pius Invitational in the 440 Yard Dash, 880 Yard Run, and One Mile Run.  He ran times of 54.94, 2:06.90, and 4:48.84 which all lead the state of Kentucky.

 

Middle School Girls

Alacia Clay - Royal Spring Middle School

Clay, an eighth grader at Royal Spring Middle School in Georgetown won the 100m Dash and Long Jump at the West Jessamine MS All-Comers Thursday.  She ran a 13.14 and jumped 13-07 in the Long Jump. 

 

College Women

Samantha Stenzel - University of Kentucky

Stenzel, a 2008 Paul Dunbar graduate finished 7th in the Pole Vault at the Baldy Castillo Invitational held at Arizona State University.  Her vault of 11-01.75 was good enough to break the University of Kentucky Freshmen Pole Vault Record.

 

College Men

Jacob Sword - Georgetown College

Sword, a 2007 Pikeville graduate won the Javelin at the Berea Invitational with a personal best throw of 176-10.
