How Do You Feel About a New Indoor Facility Proposed in Downtown Louisville?

The Courier-Journal is reporting that a 4,000-seat indoor track and field facility is planned for the vacant property at 30th and West Market in downtown Louisville. The facility would be able to host high school and NCAA events. Portions of the facility could be open as early as 2020.

This project would greatly impact the track and field community in Kentucky and surrounding states. Louisville is a convenient location for many states and has the draw of a bigger city. As it is, the state already draws teams from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, Michigan, and many more for the UK High School Invitational. Imagine how this would increase the competition level for our state? What if we could have an, dare I say, indoor state championship on a 200 meter banked track?!

Currently the only indoor facility that would be close to this capacity is at the University of Kentucky. UK currently hosts two high school meets each year, but these options would greatly expand with the addition of a facility in Louisville.
