WHAT WAS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MEET AND WHY?

I have a handful of significant races in my career but if I had to pick one I guess I would say our all cross country guys 4x4 in the 2016 State Track Meet. It was this event that got us the single point to squeak out a state title for LCA. The 400 is one of the last events I would choose for myself and I have never felt pressure like that knowing we were tied with another team and it all came down to our distance guys 4x4. That being said, it was a great memory that I will always have but I hope I never have to do that again!

WHERE DID YOU FACE YOUR BIGGEST COMPETITION?

The most competitive race as a whole that I think I have ever been in would probably have to be Footlocker South when I did it my sophomore year.

OUT OF ALL YOUR HIGH SCHOOL ACCOMPLISHMENTS, WHICH STANDS OUT THE MOST AND WHY?

Definitely getting to help this program grow from where we started. We only had 2 high school guys running when I started in 6th grade and grew in numbers a little after that but really didn't improve much through my freshman year. So to come from "a team who wouldn't even make it out of our region" in 2013, to where we are today with 3 state titles and knowing that I played a part in it is what I am most proud of.

IF YOU COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT YOUR RUNNING CAREER IN HIGH SCHOOL?

I wouldn't change any events that happened, I would just change my mindset a little. Sports are suppose to be fun and build discipline. There is room for both but it has taken me a little while to figure that out.

WHAT WERE THE MOST DIFFICULT OBSTACLES YOU HAD TO OVERCOME?

3 broken arms and a torn hamstring. I got lots of good experience bouncing back from these.

WHAT WILL YOU MISS THE MOST?

Definitely the people and relationships I have made through this sport. I'm not losing any friends by going to college, it will just be difficult not seeing these people every day/week.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR YOUNGER ATHLETES?

Do what you find you are passionate about. Obviously I would love everyone to find the same passion and enjoyment I have experienced through my running but people are made different. Find that special thing in your life and go after it.

WHAT ARE YOUR POST HIGH-SCHOOL OR COLLEGE PLANS?

As of right now I don't know where I am going I just know I want to run wherever I am. I also definitely intend to coach in the future.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU TO?

Thank you to all the coaches I have run under. I have been blessed to learn from multiple different coaches in my career and they have each taught me a unique and important lesson in their own way. Special thanks to my current coach, Coach Stickel. You have given me a confidence in myself and this program that I am forever thankful for. Thanks to all those who have toed the line with me and made me a better competitor. Seeing the development in my teammates over the years has inspired me to push harder on a lot of those miserable runs alone in the winter or blazing heat. Thanks to all my friends and family who have taken an interest in me and my running as well as helped keep me in check when I am not running. Last, I would like to say thank you to my mom and dad for putting so much into me as a runner and person so that I could focus on doing what I love. You guys are the bomb!
