duPont Manual traveled down to Alabama for the Jesse Owens Classic. Sophomore Alena Sapienza-Wright ran a new PR of 17:49.35 to break the 18 barrier for the first time. She ran an 18:05 two weeks ago at Trinity/Valkyrie. The 1st and 2nd place finishers from Jesse Owens ran at Trinity/Valkyrie as well. She becomes the 19th Kentucky girl to ever run sub-18 in high school.
The boys team was led by Yared Nugese with a 15:46.38 for 12th overall in the Gold Division.
