ATLANTA, Ga. - The SAA released the men's and women's cross country Runners of the Week for events raced this past weekend and, following voting by the league head coaches, Berry's Kyle Harris won for the men while Centre's Marisa Moore took the women's honor.
SAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week - Marisa Moore of Centre
Centre's Marisa Moore (pictured right middle in Centre uniform) had a fabulous race this past weekend at the Berea Invitational. Marisa placed 11th overall out of 93 women of mostly scholarship divisions. Marisa toured the "very" challenging 5K course in 21:00. She helped the Centre women to a 2nd place team finish out of 11 teams.
SAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week - Kyle Harris of Berry
Berry's Kyle Harris (pictured at right) finished 9th in the University of North Georgia Invitational with a time of 26:41. This race served as a pre-conference race for the NCAA DII Peach Belt Conference. Kyle led the Berry men's team to a fourth place finish out of 16 scoring teams.
Other notable performances from around the league:
Jarrett Mason, a junior at Birmingham-Southern College, placed first among all competitors with a time of 27:52, helping the Birmingham-Southern men's cross country team finish third Saturday morning at the Montevallo Falcon Classic. Mason won the race among a field of Division II runners in an impressive fashion on a very tough course.
Centre's Nathan Riggs had a wonderful race this past weekend at the Berea Invitational. Nathan placed 8th overall out of 90 men of mostly scholarship divisions. Nathan toured the "very" challenging "5 mile" course in 27:12. He helped the Centre men to a 2nd place team finish out of 11 teams.
