Each week there will be a people's choice and a site choice, maybe even just a combo choice. Here are the winners for Week 1.
Girls Fan's Choice - In a very close one, Alena Sapienza-Wright takes down the title of the people's choice for Week 1 just edging Madisyn Peeples of Bowling Green. Sapienza-Wright, a sophomore at duPont Manual in Louisville is coming off a win at Tiger Run with a 18:26.68. This makes her 2 for 2 at winning Tiger Run to open the season.
Girls Site Choice - After being out for her entire sophomore year, Madisyn Peeples came back strong with a win to open her junior season. The Bowling Green star crossed the line with an 18:50 reminding everyone she is still one of the best in the state.
Boys Fan's Choice/Site Choice - Graves County senior Marcos Macias takes home the win in the Week 1 poll for his 3rd victory of this young season. He opened with a win at the Calloway COunty 3K Opener in 9:52 and then followed that up with a new PR of 16:24 for 5000 meters.
