ATLANTA, Ga. - The SAA announced the women's track and field Athletes of the Week and, after voting by the league head coaches, Centre's Ashley El Rady won the track award while Millsaps' Jenna Johnson collected the field honor.
SAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Ashley El Rady of Centre
Ashley (pictured at right) had a wonderful weekend at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational. Ashley opened up the day finishing 4th in the women's 1500 in a field of over 50 women of mostly scholarship divisions. Ashley ran a 4:53.86 in the 1500 which currently ranks her first on the SAA Performance list. Ashley then raced the women's 800 and finished in a personal best time of 2:26.68 which currently ranks her 3rd on the SAA Performance list. Ashley finished the day running a leg of the women's 4x400 meter relay. The team ran a time of 4:28.21 which currently ranks them 3rd on the SAA Performance list.
SAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Jenna Johnson of Millsaps
Jenna Johnson, a senior at Millsaps College had an outstanding day in the throws at the UALR Invitational. She won the hammer with a throw of 43.39m (142'4.50") and placed 2nd in the discus with a personal record throw of 36.83m (120'10.25"). Jenna leads the SAA in both the hammer and discus.

Aja Leachman of Centre had a breakthrough weekend at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational. Aja threw 116'10" in the women's discus throw which currently ranks her second on the SAA Performance list. Aja also threw 110'3" in the women's hammer throw which currently ranks her 9th on the SAA Performance list, Aja is also ranked 4th on the SAA Performance list in the women's shot put with a throw of 34'2.25".
Lexy Rouse of Sewanee had a solid performance at the Catamount Classic meet in North Carolina. Her time of 2:29.44 in the 800m was her collegiate best and ranks her 7th on the SAA Performance list.
