NOTRE DAME, Ind. Junior Sophie Gutermuth broke her own school record in the pole vault and sophomore Tretez Kinnaird added to his memorable moments at the Loftus Sports Center with a school record at the Meyo Invitational on Saturday.
Gutermuth improved on her school record of 4.22m, which she set earlier this season at the Hoosier Open, with a clearance of 4.26m in the pole vault. Gutermuth now holds the second best mark in the NCAA and seventh best mark in the NCAA.
Kinnaird, who was part of the Indiana school record in the distance medley relay on this track last year, won the 800m in a school record time of 1:48.20. Kinnaird now holds three Indiana track and field school record with the DMR and 600m and ranks second in the Big Ten and eighth in the NCAA for the 800m this season.
Freshman Daniel Kuhn set a career-best time of 1:50.58 in the 800m to finish sixth in the race. Kuhn now holds the fourth best time in the Big Ten this season.
Junior Terry Batemon won the men’s pole vault with a clearance of 5.10m. Dylan Anderson finished fifth with a mark of 4.95m.
Brianna Johnson finished 10th in the women’s mile in 4:51.26, while Owen Skeete was 14th in the men’s mile in 4:05.82.
Up next the Hoosiers return home to host the Hoosier Hills Invitational on Friday Feb. 13.
