CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Three school records and five NCCAA national cuts highlighted the evening Campbellsville University men's indoor track and field Friday at the Cedarville University Invitational.
The Tigers placed fifth among eight teams with 58 team points.
Demytreus Gipson, Aaron Johnson and Joey Hartlage each set program records for CU, while Hartlage, Johnson, Adam Sandidge, PJ Randles and Christian Thurman all reached qualifying times or marks for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championships next month.
Randles returned to competition after a two-year hiatus to lead Campbellsville with 14 points, including a triple jump win of 13.24 meters. Thurman was second in the triple jump at 12.65 meters. Both marks qualified for the NCCAA. Thurman also posted a seventh place finish in the long jump to finish with 10 points.
Johnson and Stuart Nichols collected the other 12 field points in the weight throw. Johnson broke his record from last week with a second-place weight throw of 14.10 meters, while Nichols was fifth at 12.37 meters.
The remaining 13 points came on the track.
Clay Embry placed fifth in the 55-meter hurdles, while Hartlage and Adam Sandidge were fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run. Dylan Ford collected the other point with an eighth-place finish in the mile.
Hartlage's time of 15:49.87 was a CU record in the indoor 5K, while Gipson set the program mark in the 55-meter prelims at 6.74 seconds, but finished 10th.
Campbellsville indoor track and field's next stop this winter will be the Anderson Invitational in Anderson, Ind., on Saturday, Feb. 7.
