Leading the way in the boy’s high school division is Apollo. The Eagles looked impressive in winning the DC 6K Relay last weekend and are led by twins Todd and Tyler Dickinson, along with freshman Justin House. Chasing Apollo will be perennial powers Louisville Trinity and Daviess County. Trinity and Daviess County are both looking to bounce back from opening weekend loses. Trinity placed 5th in the St. Xavier Tiger Run, while DC was 3rd at their own relay meet. The Shamrocks are led by juniors Brian Hancock and Dane Flinchcum. DC frontrunners include Landon Taylor and Blake Dickens. Southwestern, ranked 7th in the pre-season, will also be in the mix for team honors. Their trio of Trevor Jones, Sabastian Rhode and Jacob Belwood look to be up in the front of the pack.
On the girls side, the Lady Panthers from Daviess County look to continue their impressive early season results under new coach Mark Fortney. Their relay teams scored a perfect 1, 2, 3 finish at the DC 6K Relay last weekend. They are led by 2006 All-State performers Elizabeth Miller and Adair Quisenberry. Green County and North Hardin look to challenge. The Lady Dragons are led by sophomore Raegan Deaton, state 1600 champion in Class A.
