Louisville's Mattias Wolter Named AAC Athlete of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville track and field’s Mattias Wolter is the American Athletic Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
 
Wolter made his season debut on Saturday at the Crimson Tide Invitational in the 3,000m steeplechase, an event he earned All-America honors in a season ago. He raced to a second-place finish behind a time of 8:51.91, which ranks 10th nationally, fourth in the NCAA East Region, and first in the AAC. The mark was eight seconds shy of his performance at the 2013 national championships, where he placed sixth.
 
The Nova Scotia, Canada, native is coming off an indoor season that he capped with a second-place finish in the mile at the AAC Championships.
 
Louisville returns to action on April 12 with its second home meet of the season. The Cardinals play host to the Border Battle, featuring Indiana, Notre Dame, and Purdue, at the Cardinal Park Track and Soccer Stadium.
