HIGHLANDS HIGH SCHOOL
The last time the ladies from Highlands were on the XC course they won the Class AA Kentucky State Championship. They cruised to victory with 65 total points led by three runners in the top eight. The entire squad is back and ready to take down Class AA again.
The big three up front are Molly Mearns and sisters, Lauren & Sydney Ossege. Sydney led the group at state last year with a 4th place finish, Lauren and Mearns also led the team at various points in XC season. Track season last spring saw both Sydney and Mearns run under 5:22 for 1600 meters along with 2:28 each for 800m. The team veteran Lauren was right behind at 2:31 and 11:57 for 3200m. The front three showed they are still at the top in Class AA with all having track times in the top 10 of Class AA returners. Another small tidbit, this is only the 2nd varsity XC season for both Molly Mearns and Sydney Ossege.
