LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Cumberlands' Danielle Hoop is the Mid-South Conference track athlete of the week and her teammate Sara Meadors is the conference's field athlete of the week, conference officials announced on Tuesday.
The weekly honor is Hoop's third of her career and second straight this season. Meadors earns her first career weekly conference honor.
Hoop earned a pair of top-five finishes, including a win in two different meets to earn the conference's track honor.
On Friday, the Owenton, Ky., sophomore finished fifth in the 1,500-meter run at the Sea Rays Relays. She crossed the finish line in four minutes and 44.18 seconds as the top NAIA time.
Saturday, Hoop returned home to set a program record in the 3,000-meeter steeplechase at the Cumberlands Invitational. Her time of 11:21.38 was good enough to qualify Hoop for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in May.
Meadors posted a runner-up finish in her only event at Cumberlands to earn the conference's field honor.
The Williamsburg, Ky., sophomore, set a program record in the javelin with a throw of 32.27 meters. Her distance was the top NAIA result.
The Patriots finished fourth on Saturday at their home event.
