NEW ORLEANS - Northern Kentucky University's Kayla Justice and Jerrica Maddox were named to the Division II cross country All-Academic team, as announced Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

According to the USTFCCCA Web site, a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher through the most recent semester, completed a minimum of 12 credit hours during the cross country season and place either in the top 50 percent of runners at the NCAA National Championships or in the top 30 percent at their respective regional competition in order to qualify for the all-academic team.

Justice, a graduate of McAuley High School, finished the Midwest Regional race with a time of 22:55.75 for a 41st place finish. The Cincinnati-native's time on course in Louisville, Ky., was also the sixth-fastest six-kilometer time in school history.

Not to be outdone by Justice's performance, Maddox also hustled her way into the NKU record books with a time of 22:46.93, which notches her in fifth place, just ahead of Justice in the six-kilometer category.

Maddox, a graduate of Scott High School, also placed 33rd in the Midwest Regional. Maddox's award marks the second consecutive year she has been named to the All-Academic team.
