This past weekend was strange, there were a ton of meets but nothing was really huge. There were some quality match-ups but even that was hard to decipher as many schools were missing runners. Fall break is part of it, minor injuries, and just simply being tired from all the racing over the last seven weeks. Here are some of the things that stuck out to me from this past week.
Tates Creek Invitational Breakdown
The Greater Louisville Classic is held on the same course as the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational, but they are two totally different meets each year. Trinity/Valkyrie brings an intense team battle that is more regionally based (KY, IN, OH) with most of the top Louisville schools in attendance, whereas Greater Louisville brings in more depth from throughout the state of Kentucky giving teams from the far west (Paducah area) a chance to compete against teams from the north and areas right outside of Louisville.
Teams took advantage of their first look at the High School State Cross-Country meet course at Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday, Sept. 22. The state meet will be held at the course on Nov. 10.
The rolling hills of the Double Stink Hog Farm just outside of Georgetown, KY were graced with perfect weather for Cross Country as the skies were clear and the temperature hung around the upper 50s.

The first Lexington invitational is ready to roll on Saturday at Masterson Station Park. The Henry Clay Invitational is going to have teams mainly from the Lexington area in the first of many competitions between the schools this season.
