Middletown Track Series #3- HS Quad (full) 2022

Note that we will use the declaration method to set the sections based on who is actually present.  Our declaration area will be set up on the scoreboard side of the track.  Note for the first few events we have a declaration time schedule, but for the remaining events we will close declaration an event or two before as noted below.  More details about the declaration process are below.

Order of events (girls, then boys), beginning at 5:00pm: 

• 1600m run (declare before 4:40pm)
• 100/110m hurdles (declare before 5pm)
• 100m dash (declare before 5pm)
• 400m dash (declare before 100m dash begins)
• 800m run (declare before 400m dash begins)
• 300m hurdles (declare before 800m begins)
• 200m dash (declare before 800m begins)
• 3200m run (declare before 200m begins)
• Note, no girls 3200m entrants

Field event plans

Long Jump- 14 girls, 24 boys (2 pits open from 5-6:15pm)

Unified Long Jump- can begin at 4:30pm

Triple Jump will follow LJ- 8 boys, 10 girls (open pit 6:15-7:15)

High Jump- Girls first, followed by boys- 11 girls, 14 boys

Pole Vault- Boys and Girls together starting at 5pm (6 boys, 6 girls)

Shot Put- Girls at 5pm, followed by boys (12 girls, 24 boys)

Unified Shot may begin at 4:45 or be included during regular shot competition

Discus- Boys at 5pm, followed by girls (13 girls, 26 boys)

Declaration and Clerking

We will use the declaration method for clerking most of our events.  This is a two-step process where athletes report with their competitor number to the declaration area (on the scoreboard side of the track) to confirm that they are present and intend to run the event.  After declaring for the event, athletes can warm-up and should listen for announcements.  Anyone not declared for an event when the declaration closes will be scratched and cannot run.  Then, when called to return, athletes will return to the clerking area (also on the scoreboard side of the track) for their section and lane assignments.  Once called to the clerking area, athletes will remain in the area until their races.

Athletes need to be attentive to announcements and the general flow of the meet.  Typically, the declaration for one event will be closing 1-2 events before that event.  Field event athletes may have a parent, coach, or teammate help with the declaration process.  The larger a specific race is, the earlier we will close the declaration process for that

event.
