BACK AGAIN AT THE STEEPLECHASE (unless Davidson Co. institutes new covid protocols due to delta variant surge)
NEW COURSE, NEW FORMAT, NEW GUIDELINES
The covid year changed a lot of things for all of us. Due to covid restrictions, the TSSAA state meet also had to find a new home. We are taking this opportunity to change the course for a variety of reasons including the increasing restrictions of the horse club managing the steeplechase, overlapping spectator & runner paths, parking areas & race path issues, plus the difficulty monitoring spectator/coaching/athlete movement in restricted areas due to a widely spread-out course.
The new course will enable more spectator interaction & split timing availability. It will hopefully enable a future look by the TSSAA to host the state meet again in a more manageable situation.
Currently, the plan will be to have 1 boys race & 1 girls race with a maximum of 40-ish teams (10 athletes per team).The main scoring/placing would be overall; however, there will be sub-scoring (and team awards) of gold & silver divisions. (Large & Small schools).
We don't know how the covid year has changed meet attendance decisions. So, we will monitor the entries and if there is a large amount of teams interested in this meet - we may consider going back to having a Gold race for any size school separate from a Silver race of smaller schools only.
We will have a middle school division as well this year.
HS RACE ELIGIBLITY: Be aware of your state association rules regarding middle school athletes running with High School teams in High School races.
TEAM ENTRY FEES - $10 per runner

SPECTATOR ENTRY FEES- Advanced Online purchase $5 (link coming soon), Race-Day in Person $10
RACE SCHEDULE - 7:00am -Gates open
8:30am- High School Boys 5K
8:50am- High School Girls 5K
9:15am- High School JV Boys
9:18am- High School JV Girls
10:30am -Middle School Boys 2 mile
11:00am- Middle School Girls 2 mile
PARKING - Busses and Vans MUST park in the field entered via Old Hickory Boulevard. Spectators will be directed to park in the various lots along the west side of the park (Gaucho Road)...overflow will then be directed to alternate lots.
