2016 Oldham County Sundown Invitational
Thursday, May 5, 2016

The Oldham County Sundown Invitational will again be held on the Thursday prior to the Kentucky Derby. We again expect a very competitive field and a great meet. To help everybody prepare for the regional format, we will be running the meet on the regional time schedule. New this year we will have unified events: 100m, 4x100m, shot put and long jump.
These events will follow the event listed. Dust off those old racing shoes and join us for the coaches/parents mile right before the girls mile.

In order to make this schedule happen, we need to limit the fields to the top 18 athletes (3 heats for laned races). To accommodate your runners who might not make these cut-offs, we will run select open events prior to the invitational section so that everyone can at least get a race in. Pole Vault will be contested on Tuesday 5/3 at North Oldham High school starting at 5:30. The schedule for the meet is below:

5:00pm Open Running Events (non-scoring, max 3 per team, girls followed by boys):

Entries will be via MileSplit Online Entry only. Plan ahead to do your entries. Please visit http://www.milesplit.com/pages/Online_Meet_Reg_Instructions for instructions on how to enter. A performance that cannot be verified will be disregarded. Horizontal jumps and throws will be trials/finals, with the top 7 following the initial 3 trials receiving 3 additional attempts. (NOTE: In order to keep the field events running smoothly, athletes in field events will not be excused to check out from the field event to run in the non-scored, open running events).

Entries will close on Monday, May 2. If you are not entered by the time entries close, you will not be participating in the meet. Due to the format of the meet, we will not allow additions or substitutions after entries have closed. Heat sheets will be available on Wednesday, May 4, so that you will be able to see who made the cut-offs. Please only enter athletes in events where they have a high probability of actually competing, and scratch any athletes you know will not be competing by Wednesday evening so that we can fill that lane with another deserving athlete. Unlike last year, if there are empty lanes in the faster heats, we will move runners up from the slower heats to fill all lanes in the faster heats.

The entry fee is $70/team (boys and girls teams separate) if received by Monday, May 2, or $80/team after that date. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 in each event, and the top 2 boys and girls teams will receive trophies. Scoring in all events will be 10-8-6-4-2-1.

A great big THANK YOU to Ken Combs Running Store who has offered to "sponsor" our individual track event winners!
Event winners will receive a free pair of running socks from Ken Combs Running Store.
The 1600m Run winners will receive a voucher for a free pair of shoes from Ken Combs Running Store.
