I was talking to Tim King today at the 44th Annual Harrison Co Invitational and we were talking with Coach Simpson about the oldest Invitationals in the state. I know that last year we attended the 49th Annual DCI but they did not host a meet this year. Tim mentioned the old Pep Stidham meet but we did not recall the last year it was held. So what are the top 10 oldest continuous high school track meets in Kentucky?

E.G. Plummer Invitational in Danville might make that list.

Never mind - 16th annual on that one. I was thinking about the legend himself - Coach Plummer.

The CKC goes back at least to the mid 60s, the Lake Cumberland Classic goes back to the mid 70s and the Heart of the Bluegrass goes back to at least the mid 80s. Those are the three oldest meets we normally attend. The EG Plummer has also been a great local tradition but with the two weeks cut out of the track schedule a couple years ago this meets numbers have fallen since it has been too near the eastern relays and other local meets.

So Harrison Co, Lake Cumberland, CKC what about Paducah Meet. Seems like that is an old event. Does anyone know how old that meet is? Surely, there are 10 old events in the State?

Dodd, the results on E.G. Plummer that came out yesterday had 16th annual listed at the top. For some reason, I thought it was much older. Meets that have been around for awhile include the Woodford Co. Invite (since 1977 or 1978); and back further in the day, the St. X Tiger Relays (circa pre-1974 - 1975); the Shelby Co. Invitational 1975-1976 and yes - CKC has been running since those days when I was in H.S. There - I'm now officially old :)

@RunBikeRun Someone check with Randy Crist. I think the CKC has been around for more than 60 years.

So if we assume that DCI will be back in the near future the list looks like this thus far: 1 DCI 49 and holding 2 Harrison Co Invitational 44 and growing 3 CKC 4 ST X Tiger Relays 1974ish 5 Shelby Co Invitational 1975ish 6 Woodford Co Invitational 1977ish 7 Joan Spurlock Lake Cumberland Classic What about Pulaski Co Invitational, Puducah Tilghman, and others. Also, does anyone know the exact dates of the above meets?

IN 1963 I attended The Daviess County Invit. IN 1965 I ran in the St. X relays. In 1966 I ran in the Henderson County Invit, the DCI, St. X relays and Paducah Invit. I hoped that helped.
