RAIDER TWILIGHT RUN
September 01, 2012 @ Ephram White Park in Bowling Green, KY
Hosted by Warren East
The final meet of the weekend does not start until Saturday night. The annual Raider Twilight Run hosted by Warren East in Bowling Green has a combination of teams that are looking to make a name for themselves.
The Varsity Boys action is loaded with AAA schools that are sitting just outside of the Top 10 statewide. Regional foes Greenwood and North Hardin are two of those squads along with Region 1 team Owensboro. Greenwood comes in led by Keith Prive with five runners already under 18:06. The team has raced twice in this early season at the KY-IN Border Clash and the Tiger Run, both are pretty quick. Ephram White Park is pretty flat itself, so the fast trend continues. North Hardin led by Marcus Terrell looks solid though with #5 being the early difference between them and Greenwood. Owensboro is senior heavy led by Zac Garrard and Jeff Keeley.
There are a couple Class AA schools that will mix it up with the AAA schools, #5 Logan County and #8 Edmonson County. Logan County has the overall individual favorite in Sye Head who opened up with a 16:35 at the Border Clash. They had a nice 2-5 pack in the low to mid 18s. Edmonson County is loaded nicely through three with Cody Hymer, Jacob Thien, and Kenny Stethen, the rest have to move up to get into the mix with Logan County.
The Varsity Girls race looks to be Owensboro's to take. They have the best 1-5 and have two of the best runners in the race in Alex Girten and Rachel Keeley. Watch out for Hannah Godfrey from Elizabethtown who was knocked out of XC season last year because of injury. Elizabethtown is a group of girls that are usually sneaky good. (You don't pay attention and they are there doing really well.)
