Do You Want A New 5K PR, accepting entries for the KYtrackXC.com 5K Showdown on March 22nd

KYtrackXC.com is still accepting entries for the 2nd Annual KYtrackXC.com 5K Showdown on March 22nd at Christian Academy in Louisville.

If you are interested in competing in this awesome event or have questions, please contact Jonathan Grooms at kytrackxc@gmail.com or David St. Louis steeplecoach@gmail.com.  Depending on the interest there is a strong possibility of expanding this night with extra sections for the 5K or even more events.  This is an official high school event in connection with the Harry Greschel Invitational on March 23rd.  Out-of-state runners are welcome as well. 

Last year was highlighted by the fastest boys race in Kentucky State History with two runners going under the 15:00 Mark.  The meet started out with the girls race on Friday night and then the storms came.  That did not slow down the runners as the race was re-scheduled for Saturday morning.  Even with the loss of one Foot Locker Finalist from Indiana the times were still smoking fast.  The boys race was won by 2012 Foot Locker All-American Jacob Thomson of Holy Cross (Louisville) running a then best time of 14:49.75.  He went on to finish as Runner-Up in the 5K at New Balance Nationals in June.  Butler's Patrick Gregory also recorded a personal best with a 14:57.96 cracking 15 flat as just a sophomore.  In total seven runners ran under 15:51 with all but one in the whole field going under 16:53.  The majority of the field set overall best times for 5000 Meters with many still standing today.  The entire top 6 finished in the Top 40 Nationally for 2012 Outdoor Season. 

The girls race was won by Hannah Herd of Christian Academy with a 19:24.  Then 8th grader Erin Edmundson made it race finishing just two seconds back.
