Girls Championship

"Going for the Win"

Cassidy Hale of duPont Manual is the defending Class AAA State Champion and the post-season is her time to shine.  She opens up her post-season with a win on Saturday.

"Team Hunt"

This region has always been a walk in the park on the team side for Manual.  This year, they have it a little tougher.  They are still the favorites but Butler is trying to make it harder on them.  Manual still wins off the strength of the front, C. Hale is the favorite. But then Kristen Hale and Christina Rucinski won't be too far behind.  Butler will slip Rose Jolly in there in the top three and follow her up with Allie and Layney Vincent.  These two squads will control the top 10, except for Alyssa Shifflett from Bullitt Central (very solid year by her.)  Male and Nelson County will look to make it out as the third and fourth team in the region.

Boys Championship

"Going for the Win"

This is a Class AAA Individual title showdown.  Butler's Patrick Gregory will find himself in a sea of Green or Yellow.  Gregory pulled off the win at Lexington Catholic on October 20th with a 15:48.  St. Xavier's Connor Sheryak and Sam Lewis (AAA 1-2 XC last year) were at 15:54 and 16:04 that day.  All three runners have beaten each other multiple times over the last two years.  If St. Xavier runs this race all out, watch out it is going be fast up front.

"Team Hunt"

There is one team in the race that has been nationally ranked all year, they seem like a good choice for the win.  St. Xavier comes in off a Lexington Catholic performance where they sored 22 points against many of the best teams in the state.  They placed 2,3,4,5,8,9,10, and 13th just get another in there.  If they run full blast they should have six of the top seven runners in the race.  What is crazy is that AAA #4 Meade County is in this race.  Just plain nasty!!!!

Going after second place will be Will Strickland and Meade County.  They need to not worry about St. Xavier and just focus on Manual and Butler.  All three squads are young with potential to challenge St. Xavier down the line.
