Former Bethlehem Runner Angela Musk Named GLVC Runner of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS – Bellarmine University senior Angela Musk has captured her third consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week award, it was announced today.  GLVC Runner of the Week records dating back to the 2006 season indicate that no other runner has ever received three straight weekly honors.

Musk finished sixth overall at the 34th National Catholic Invitational, which was hosted by the University of Notre Dame.  She finished first in the College Division among all non-Division I runners, a feat that marked her second consecutive title at the event.  Her school-record 5,000-meter time of 17:31.2 was a personal best by 18 seconds and shattered the nearly decade-old school mark of 7:41, set by Jen Scheerer Alessandro in the 2002 Cardinal Classic.

The New Hope, Ky., native’s efforts helped the Knights to a fourth-place finish in the 21-team field of non-Division I competitors.

The Knights next competition comes at the 11th Annual Greater Louisville Invitational, which will be contested on Saturday, Sept. 29 at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
