Salute To Seniors: Tori Reiman - Bolles

Salute To Seniors: Tori Reiman - Bolles

Over the last five seasons, my throwing has gone up and down. After leaving Bolles to pursue a more spiritual experience at the Providence School my numbers during junior yearwent down due to a lack of facilites and coaching. That summer, I decided to change my course to be a full time thrower which eventually led to the decision to re-attend Bolles. Obviously, this was the right decision. My senior season would not have been what it was if I had not made this sacrifice to go back to Bolles and quit other sports.

What was your most memorable meet?

My most memorable meet was the state meet in 2011. I know most people would say the meet they won right? Nope, I remember the state meet when I lost. Sitting in the stands, tears streaming down my face. I never wanted to go through that again, and although it was going to be hard work, I decided I would be on the podium the next year.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?

My biggest high school accomplishment lies in the sacrifices I made. Winning wasn't an accomplishment, it was a reward. Working hard, spening more time with my dad rather than my friends, and doing all I could to be an elite thrower was the accomplishment. Most people wouldn't do it, but I did.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

If I could do it over again, I'd do it all the same. Maybe I'd decide to throw full-time after 10th grade rather than 11th. However, all that I have been through has molded me into the athlete but more importantly the person I am right now.

What will you miss the most?

As much as I love my team, I think I will miss the time I spent with my dad the most. He was always there: rolling shots back to me or throwing discuses back in order to get through practice. He was my biggest fan and my biggest critic. He kept me going. We became very close, and he even went to the same gym as me. We pretty much spent from 3 pm until bedtime together. I would not have achieved what I did if not for him.

What are your college plans?

Next year, I will be attending the Univeristy of Kentucky, and I could not be more excited. I am excited to work with the coaches and throwers up there!

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I'd like to say thank you to my parents for putting in the time and effort to help me reach my goals, the Bolles Track and Field program, Andy Vince, Joe Hanson, and lastly, my God for giving me the talent and opportunity to do all that I have done. I'll leave you with this: make the most of every minute. Work hard, give it all you have, and leave it all in the circle, whether that be the throwing circle or track or really any event, and have fun. It doesn't last forever, so make it count. Trust me, it's worth it.
