Tretez Kinnaird 1:49.31 US #3 in Nashville

 

 

Music City Distance Carnival

 

The Music Dity Distance Carnival was held on Saturday night in Nashville, Tennessee with several Kentucky runners rolling fast down the track.

 

AAA State Champion, Tretez Kinnaird (Butler) fresh off breaking the Kentucky State Record with a 1:49.96 took control the 800m with 200 to go to run a new personal best 1:49.31 winning by close to two seconds.  This was his third time running sub 1:50 this season.  His time moved him up to #3 in the United States as he prepares to challenge for a national title at New Balance Outdoor Nationals.

 

The boys mile saw a field that contained several runners who traveled down I-65.  AA 1600m champ Nicholas Laureano (Lexington Catholic) set a new best time of 4:18.36 to finish 10th overall.  That time converts to a 4:16.86 which puts top 25 All-Time on KYtrackXC.com right now. Kyle Covert set a new best time of 4:22.55 breaking Eastern's school record.  Trinity's Sam Meredith crossed the line with a 4:23.61 for 15th place which was also a personal best. 

 

Bowling Green's Sarah-Emily Woodward was the only Kentucky girl to compete as she ran a 5:31.16 to finish 5th overall in the Girls Mile Run.

 

The Invitational Elite races saw former St. Xavier/current UK runner Matt Hillenbrand finish with a 4:14.12 for the Mile Run.  Andrew Stewart, formerly of North Hardin ran a 1:53.06 in the 800m Run for the University of Louisville.

 

In the open events, Kentucky had another win as former Fort Campbell/Western Kentucky University runner Jef Scott won the 5000 Meter Run with a 15:23.53. 

 

In the open mile, former Lexington Catholic/UK great Thomas Morgan finished second with a 4:17.21.  His wife, Allison was third in the 5000 Meter Run with a 16:46.57.  Another UK former runner, John Richardson ran a 4:29.3 finishing just ahead of Logan County's Sye Head with a 4:32.37.
