Lady Toppers Picked To Finish Second At SBC Indoor Championships

Bowling Green, Ky. – The Western Kentucky University track and field
teams are set to compete in the Sun Belt Conference indoor track and
field championships, set for February 25-26 at the Murphy Center in
Murfreesboro, Tenn.
SBC coaches predict the Western women to finish second in the team
scoring, with North Texas expected to take home the crown. The Lady
Toppers received three first-place votes, while North Texas picked up
five. Following UNT and WKU, league coaches expect host Middle
Tennessee to place third, followed by Florida International, South
Alabama, Arkansas State, New Orleans, Arkansas-Little Rock, Troy, and
Louisiana-Lafayette.
Conference coaches predict to place fourth at the conference meet,
with MTSU expected to take the title on their home track. Defending
champs USA are predicted to finish second, followed by ASU in third.
Fifth in the voting was UNT, followed by FIU, with UALR and UNO tying
for seventh, and ULL rounding out the predictions.
At the 2005 SBC indoor championships, the Lady Toppers finished
second in the team scoring, while the Hilltoppers finished sixth.
Competition at the Murphy Center begins Saturday at 8 a.m., with the
women's pentathlon.
