SPOKANE, Wash.—Bellarmine University men's cross country runner
Jordan Parayil suffered a disappointing day in the NCAA Division II National Championship today at Plante's Ferry Sports Complex, finishing 140th in the 187-person field with a time of 34:18.2.
According to Bellarmine Director of Cross Country and Track
Jim Vargo, Parayil caught a severe cramp around the midpoint of the 10 kilometer race and never could recover. The race was being run in tough conditions with temperatures in the 20s and heavy snow falling.
Parayil, who had qualified for the national finals by virtue of his 10th place finish in the NCAA Midwest Regional, was the only Bellarmine athlete competing.
The Western State Mountaineers took the team title and had the individual winner as Ryan Haebe covered the course in 30:45.1.
