NEW ORLEANS--- After sweeping first place in both races at the Gibson Family Invite, the Bellarmine University men's and women's cross country teams remained at No. 17 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.

The Knights were dominant in the men's race, taking five of the top six spots as Jordan Parayil took home first place individually. His individual championship helped him earn Great Lakes Valley Conference men's Runner of the Week honors for the second time this season. Other top performers last week were Dominic Perronie, Neal Masetson, Nate Dotterweich, and Robert Sandlin, Jr.

Freshman Emily Frith led the women's team to victory over the weekend, coming in second in the 5K race and earning GLVC women's Runner of the Week honors. Angela Musk, Maggie Wagner, and Kelsey Love also helped out with top ten finishes of their own.

The teams stayed firm in the regional rankings as well, with the men's team coming in at No. 3 and the women at No. 4 in the Midwest Region.

The Knights now look toward bigger prizes now as their next race will be on Oct. 22 at the GLVC Championships in Evansville, Ind. The women are the defending conference champions while the men's squad came in at third place in 2010.
