Jordan garners GLVC weekly honor

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana junior Michael Jordan has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this season following his efforts this past Saturday at the Greater Louisville Classic.

Jordan finished 24th out of 240 competitors to lead the Screaming Eagles for the third time this season. He finished the 8k-course in 24 minutes, 34.77 seconds, a time that ranks him fourth all-time at USI in that distance and first in the GLVC this season.

His pace led the No. 6 Eagles to a 10th-place finish in the 29-team field and kept them perfect against NCAA Division II schools this season. USI, which won the Covered Bridge Open and finished fourth at the Indiana Intercollegiate earlier this season, has lost to just one non-NCAA Division I team—NAIA No. 3 Shorter University edged USI for ninth at the Greater Louisville Classic.

Jordan, a pre-nursing major and a graduate of Pike High School, also earned GLVC Runner of the Week honors after finishing third at the Covered Bridge Open.

USI returns to action October 15 when it competes at the Fast Cats Classic in Owensboro, Kentucky. The Eagles host the GLVC Championships October 22 at the USI Cross Country Course.
