Bellarmine University's nationally ranked men's and women's cross country teams will be competing this Saturday, October 1 at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in the Greater Louisville Classic.  

The men's team, which has been ranked as high as No. 15 in the nation in D-II (highest in season ranking in school history) will split into two squads and compete in both the 8K Gold Championship race set to begin at 9:30 a.m. and the men's "Blue" race at 10:45 a.m.

The women's team--ranked No. 22 nationally--also will split into two squads to race in the 5K Gold Championship at 10:15 a.m., and the "Blue" race at 11:30 a.m.

The Greater Louisville Classic will feature 96 universities with more than 2000 runners competing on Saturday. Some of the schools that the Knights will be competing against include U of L, U of K, Purdue, Alabama, Marquette, Michigan, and Vanderbilt.

There is no admission fee, but the parks department charges $5 per car for parking.  Traffic will be exceptionally heavy on Frey's Hill road so fans are encouraged to arrive around 8:30 AM or 8:45 AM at the latest if you want to ensure you do not miss the race.

Directions to E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park (from Bellarmine):

Exit from campus on to Newburg Road South (take left leaving campus on to Newburg)
Go 2 miles to the Watterson Expressway East (take left as you go over the overpass)
Stay on Watterson Expressway East for about 8 miles – go past Shelbyville Road and Brownsboro Rd
When Watterson splits take the right ramp on to I-71 North towards Cincinnati
Stay on I-71 North for about 5 miles until you see the Gene Snyder South – exit 9A
Go to second exit; exit 32(about 1 mile) and take the Westport Road Exit to your right.
Go right off ramp to the second stop light at top of the hill (Thornton's of Left; Springhurst on right)
Take Left at light on to Frey's Hill Road (Thornton's Gas and Mockingbird Valley Soccer)
Go about ½ mile down Frey's Hill and E.P. Tom Sawyer Park will be on your right.
Finish line is just off the main parking lot. The starting line and team camp area are about ¼ mile up the limestone walking path past the finish line (go past the soccer fields)
