Both Kentucky Wesleyan cross country teams finished third at the Western Kentucky Old Timers Classic at Spero Kereiakes Park in Bowling Green on Saturday.
The Panthers were led by sophomore Nick Richey (29:40.70) from White Plains, Ky./Hopkins County HS with a 17th place finish on the 8K; followed by sophomore Josh Bratcher (29:53.40) from Owensboro/Daviess County HS; senior Michael Kincaid (20:28.20) from Owenton, Ky./Owen County HS; and freshman Brenton Smith (31:04.40) from Philpot, Ky./Daviess County HS. Senior Brent Mesplay from Owensboro/Daviess County HS did not finish due to an injury on the course.
Western Kentucky won their own Classic with Morehead State second.
On the women's side, senior Kali Bonner (20:41.60) from Carterville, Ill./Carterville HS led KWC with an 18th place finish on the 5K course; sophomore Taylor Owens (21:11.90) from Owensboro/Apollo HS; sophomore Raley Owens (21:54.20) from Owensboro/Apollo HS; sophomore Brittany McCarthy (24:02.40) from Philpot, Ky./Daviess County HS; and sophomore Tiffany Clark (24:35.00) from Philpot, Ky./Daviess County HS.
Western Kentucky won the women's title with Morehead State second.
The teams will be back in action when they travel to the Greater Louisville Classic at E. P. Tom Sawyer Park on Oct. 1.
