LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Thanks to a break-out performance in the 1500 meters at a “last chance” meet at the University of Louisville last Friday night, Bellarmine sophomore Angela Musk qualified for a spot in the NCAA Div. II National Track and Field Championships in Turlock, Calif., May 26-28.

Musk, a sophomore from Bardstown, Ky., ran a personal-best time of 4:33.20 at U of L's “Twilight Meet” on Friday to earn the No. 17 seed at the national championships. In the past two weeks, Musk has shaved five seconds off her best 1500 time.

A total of six Bellarmine track and field athletes posted provisional times/marks for the finals, but Musk was the only Knight to qualify.

The women's 1500 meters preliminaries will be run May 26 at 8:40 p.m. (EDT)/5:40 p.m. (PDT), and the finals will be run Saturday evening (9:05 EDT/6:05 PDT).

Musk is the second Bellarmine women's runner to qualify for the 1500 national finals in recent years. In 2009, Katie Hickey set the Bellarmine school record with a time of 4:31.21 in the NCAA National Championship preliminaries and finished ninth at the national finals.
