This Week's Nominees:
Shakarie Speakes, Newport (Kentucky): Won the long jump at the Class 1A KHSAA Track & Field State Championship with a leap of 26-0, defeating a field of 37 competitors.
Tamari Oliver, Central (Kentucky): Claimed the shot put title at the Class 3A KHSAA Track & Field State Championship with a throw of 42-9.75, making her the top junior in Kentucky in the event.
Germani Crosby, Lincoln County (Kentucky): Swept the throwing events at the Class 2A KHSAA Track & Field State Championship, winning the discus with a mark of 136-0 and taking shot put gold at 37-10.
Ansley Ova Turner, Monroe County (Kentucky): Cleared 5-6 to capture the high jump crown at the Class 1A KHSAA Track & Field State Championship, topping a field of 17 athletes.
Baili Hoten, Thomas Nelson (Kentucky): Doubled up in the distance events at the Class 2A KHSAA Track & Field State Championship, clocking 10:41.33 to win the 3200m and adding a 1600m victory in 5:04.14. The top-ranked junior in Kentucky in both events, she controlled the distance races throughout the meet.
