LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- After hosting the first on campus track meet in 45 years last season, the Bellarmine University men's and women's track team will have the home field advantage again this weekend while competing in the 2nd annual Bellarmine Invitational at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

Both the men's and women's team have had outstanding seasons so far as they have had impressive showings in meets at the Hanover College, University of Cincinnati, and Western Kentucky University.

On the men's side, freshman Damar Williams has made a splash in the conference as he clocked a school record 21.85 200 meter dash on his way to a third place finish at the WKU Relay Meet. Williams and fellow sprinter William Saucer are currently ranked first and second respectively in the Great Lakes Valley Conference performance list for the 100 meter dash.

Other top performers so far on the men's side include Elliot Mattingly in the throws and Robert Sandlin, Jr. in the distance running.

The women have been equally as impressive as they have already broken five school records this season as well as two additional freshman records.

From the throwing pit, juniors Alicia Dupilka (shot put) and Julia Zalewski (hammer) have both set new marks in their respective events. Freshman Madison Roark has also lowered the school record in the 400 meter hurdles as she crossed the finish line with a time of 1:05.06 at University of Cincinnati Oliver Nickoloff Invitational.

The Knights have also shown depth as they have broken two relay records, the 400 and 1600 meter relays. Roark, Katie Neiser, Katherine Mastronicola, and Elaine Kuntz teamed up to break the 400 meter relay record while Kristin Hamrick, Molly Culbertson, and Carissa Martin joined Roark in setting the 1600 record.

This year's meet is shaping up to be highly competitive with a record 18 teams expected to attend. Teams expected to compete include GLVC rivals Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana as well as Austin Peay University, Morehead State, Centre College, Transylvania, Cumberlands, and Georgetown (Ky.). Additionally there will be several unattached individuals competing including University of Kentucky All-American thrower Andy Fryman and Bellarmine Hall of Famers Chris Clark in the javelin and Jen (Scheerer) Alessandro in the 5000 meter run.

The meet is scheduled to kick off at 10:45 a.m. with both field and running events.
