Gennett, women's 4x200 relay capture GLVC titles

Teams both in 4th place after day 1 of GLVC Indoor Championshiips

KENOSAH, Wisc.--Junior pole vaulter, Bryan Gennett, won his first conference title with a jump of 15-1 1/2 on the first day of the GLVC Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Kenosha, Wisc.. Finals were conducted in six events for both the men and women on Friday, along with trial heats in the men's and women's straight races, the 55 meter dash and 55 meter hurdles.

The women's 4x200 relay team (Rachel Eyckmans, Meghan Jones, Kate Mastronicola, Elaine Kuntz, joined Gennett with a conference title of its own, while also gaining a new school best in the process. The youthful relay squad, which includes two sophomores and a freshman, produced a quick time of 1:44.09 on the smaller 200 meter flat track at University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

The women's distance medley relay team lowered their NCAA Provisional qualifying mark to 12:01.53 (a new school record), running a close second in their relay final. Racing without their injured senior stalwart, Meghan Shagena, who anchored the previous NCAA qualifying quartet this winter, the Conference DMR squad got strong efforts from all four relay members, including an anchor 1600 meter leg of 5:02.9 from sophomore Angela Musk. Other relay members included Carissa Martin (3:39.7/1200), Kristin Hamrick (58.4/400), and Molly Culbertson (2:20.4/800)

The men's program also got a runner-up finish from their 4x200 meter relay with an impressive school best mark of 1:29.80. The men's squad, composed of Will Saucer, Juan Garrett, Sean Klosterman and Demar Williams also included two sophomores and a freshman.

Eyckmans (7.34-new school best) and Kuntz (7.48) also qualified for the conference final from the women's 55 meter trial heats. The men got two of the eight conference finalists in their sprint as well, with Saucer and Williams earning those spots.

Second year hurdlers, Seth Sigler, and James Greenlee, made the 55 High Hurdles final, as did sophomore Nora Bowe on the women's side. Greenlee (8.11) and Bowe (8.82) earned personal bests in their races.

Freshman Ben Kolb stood in fourth place after the first four events in the men's multi-day heptathlon. Kolb's first day efforts included a 6.77/55m, 20-6 1/2-LJ, and a 5-11 1/4-HJ
